I’ve owned a Stingray, two Z06s and now a ZR1, and the Grand Sport X is the 2027 car I get asked about most. It’s the new middle of the lineup: a wide-body Corvette with a naturally aspirated V8 out back, an electric motor up front, and all-wheel drive. Here’s every spec Chevrolet has published, what it costs by trim, when it’s actually arriving, and how it stacks up against the Grand Sport, the Z06 and the E-Ray it replaces.

What is the Corvette Grand Sport X?

The Grand Sport X is the hybrid, all-wheel-drive version of the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport. It uses the same new 6.7L LS6 V8 as the rear-drive 2027 Grand Sport, then adds a front electric drive unit that turns the front wheels. Chevrolet lists the LS6 at 535 hp and 520 lb-ft and the front motor at 186 hp and 145 lb-ft.

The combined rating is 721 hp. GM Authority reports combined torque of 665 lb-ft. Power goes through the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, and the car comes as a coupe or a hardtop convertible.

Think of it as the E-Ray’s replacement with the E-Ray’s job description sharpened. The E-Ray is gone for 2027, and the Grand Sport X takes its place in the lineup. The front unit is derived from the one in the 1,250-hp ZR1X, and The Drive reports Chevrolet reworked the battery management so the electric side is more useful on track.

Grand Sport X specs: the full list

Chevrolet rates the Grand Sport X at 2.4 seconds to 60 mph and 10.4 seconds at 131 mph in the quarter mile. Everything below comes from Chevrolet’s own Grand Sport X page unless it says otherwise.

Spec 2027 Grand Sport X
Engine 6.7L LS6 V8, naturally aspirated
Engine output 535 hp / 520 lb-ft
Front electric motor 186 hp / 145 lb-ft
Combined output 721 hp / 665 lb-ft (torque per GM Authority)
Drivetrain Hybrid all-wheel drive
Transmission 8-speed dual-clutch
Battery 1.9 kWh lithium-ion
0-60 mph 2.4 sec
Quarter mile 10.4 sec @ 131 mph
Electric-only (Stealth Mode) 4-5 miles, up to 50 mph
Brakes Carbon ceramic, standard
Wheels 20 in. front / 21 in. rear forged aluminum
Tires 275/30ZR20 front / 345/25ZR21 rear
Body width 79.7 in. (wide body)
Weight (GM Authority) 3,800 lb coupe / 3,899 lb convertible

Sources: chevrolet.com Grand Sport X page; torque and weights from GM Authority; tire sizes from GM Authority and CorvSport RPO coverage. Chevrolet has not published a top speed.

The 1.9 kWh battery is small on purpose. This is not a plug-in. It charges from the engine and braking, and it exists to feed the front motor in short, hard bursts.

Stealth Mode lets the Grand Sport X drive on electric power alone for 4 to 5 miles at speeds up to 50 mph. Chevrolet also lists a Shuttle Mode that runs on the electric motor only under 22 mph, meant for moving the car around, not for public roads.

GM Authority lists the Grand Sport X coupe at 3,800 lb and the convertible at 3,899 lb. One caution: a reader on that article argues those are dry weights, so expect a real curb weight a bit higher. For how that compares to every other C8, see my C8 Corvette weight guide.

Wheels, tires and brakes

The Grand Sport X runs 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels with 275/30ZR20 front and 345/25ZR21 rear tires. Those are the same sizes the Grand Sport uses. The standard wheel is a 10-spoke forged-aluminum design in Pearl Nickel, with Gloss Black, High Polished and Carbon Flash with Bright Polished Surfaces available. The full C8 size breakdown lives in my C8 wheel size guide.

Tires are where the Grand Sport X splits from the Grand Sport. Chevrolet lists all-season tires, and GM Authority names them as Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4. The Drive reports the performance package swaps in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires. The rear-drive Grand Sport, by contrast, can be ordered on Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires with its Track Performance Package.

Carbon ceramic brakes are standard on the Grand Sport X (RPO J57) with Dark Gray Metallic calipers. On the Grand Sport, carbon ceramics only come with one of the Z52 packages.

Packages and what you can’t get

The Grand Sport X has one performance package, the Sport Performance Package (RPO FED), which bundles the 20/21-inch tire setup with retuned Magnetic Selective Ride Control. CorvSport notes it closely mirrors the E-Ray’s old ZER package.

  • Standard on every Grand Sport X: carbon ceramic brakes, Head-Up Display (it’s 2LT and up on the Grand Sport), wide-body aero.
  • Available: quad center exhaust, Competition Sport seats, Grand Sport X badging, center stripe and fender hash marks.
  • Not available on the X: the Carbon Fiber Aero Package (RPO T0F), the Z52 Track Performance Package with Cup 2 R tires, and red Grand Sport badging (RPO SUP).
  • Launch only: the Interior Launch Edition is limited to inaugural 2027 cars.

🏁 OWNER TAKE

If you want the most track-focused Grand Sport, the hybrid is not that car. Chevrolet kept the Cup 2 R tires and carbon aero for the rear-drive Grand Sport. The X is built to be the quickest one in a straight line and the one you can drive in any weather.

Grand Sport X price by trim

The 2027 Grand Sport X starts at $112,495 for a 1LT coupe, including the $2,495 destination charge. The convertible starts at $119,495. Those figures include the flat $300 increase GM applied on September 28, 2026, and do not include any gas guzzler tax.

Trim Coupe MSRP (incl. destination)
1LT $112,495
2LT $117,995
3LT $123,145
1LT convertible $119,495

2LT and 3LT figures are chevrolet.com trim prices ($115,500 and $120,650) plus the $2,495 destination charge. Chevrolet’s “as shown” build lists at $122,510 before destination.

A 2LT coupe is $117,995 and a 3LT coupe is $123,145 with destination. The 2LT adds the 14-speaker Bose Performance Series audio, heated and ventilated seats, the Performance Data Recorder and the blind-zone and cross-traffic alerts. The 3LT adds GT2 seats, Napa leather and the leather-wrapped dash and doors.

For scale, the Grand Sport X costs $23,700 more than a 1LT Grand Sport ($88,795) and $9,200 less than a 1LZ Z06 ($121,695).

When can you order one?

The Grand Sport X is on sale now, and production started at Bowling Green in August 2026. Corvette Blogger reported the first Grand Sport X allocations reached some dealers the week of June 12, 2026. GM Authority reports dealers began submitting orders in July 2026, with the first cars entering production in August 2026.

The Grand Sport, its rear-drive sibling, opened for ordering at the end of April 2026, so the hybrid trails it by a couple of months. If you’re placing an order now, ask your dealer where you sit in their allocation; early-build cars also carry the Launch Edition interior option.

Grand Sport X vs Grand Sport

The Grand Sport X is quicker and grips harder off the line; the Grand Sport is lighter, cheaper and has the stickier track options. Both use the same 535-hp LS6, the same wide body and the same wheel sizes. The difference is the front motor and what Chevrolet bolted on around it. If you’re still choosing between a Grand Sport and a Stingray, start with my Grand Sport vs Stingray comparison.

Grand Sport X Grand Sport
Power 721 hp 535 hp
Drivetrain AWD hybrid Rear-wheel drive
0-60 mph 2.4 sec 2.75 sec
Quarter mile 10.4 sec @ 131 mph 10.95 sec @ 124 mph
Weight (coupe) 3,800 lb 3,520 lb
Carbon ceramic brakes Standard Z52 packages only
Cup 2 R tires / carbon aero Not available Available
Starting price $112,495 $88,795

Chevrolet performance figures; weights from GM Authority; prices include $2,495 destination.

The Grand Sport X is 0.35 second quicker to 60 than the Grand Sport, 2.4 seconds against 2.75. It is also about 280 lb heavier, 3,800 lb against 3,520 lb for the coupes. CorvSport’s write-up of a DragTimes test shows how that plays out: the X was quicker to 60 at the strip, but the Grand Sport on Cup 2 R tires and the aero package was about three seconds a lap quicker at Atlanta Motorsports Park.

My read: buy the Grand Sport if you track the car or want the best value in the 2027 lineup. Buy the X if you want the quickest launch, all-weather traction and carbon ceramics without ticking boxes.

Grand Sport X vs Z06

The Grand Sport X is quicker to 60 than the Z06 and costs $9,200 less, but the Z06 has the 8,600-rpm flat-plane LT6 and the Z07 track hardware the X can’t match. Having owned two Z06s, that engine is the whole reason you buy one. More on the Z06 in my Corvette C8 Z06 guide.

Grand Sport X Z06
Engine 6.7L LS6 V8 + front motor 5.5L LT6 flat-plane V8
Power 721 hp 670 hp
Torque 665 lb-ft 460 lb-ft
Redline Not published 8,600 rpm
Drivetrain AWD hybrid Rear-wheel drive
0-60 mph 2.4 sec 2.6 sec
Quarter mile 10.4 sec @ 131 mph 10.6 sec @ 131 mph
Track package Sport Performance (FED) Z07
Starting price $112,495 $121,695

Chevrolet and GM Authority figures; prices include $2,495 destination.

On paper the Grand Sport X wins the launch: 2.4 seconds to 60 against the Z06’s 2.6, and 10.4 seconds in the quarter against 10.6, both at 131 mph. GM Authority puts it plainly: the Z06’s rear-wheel drive means it trails the Grand Sport X off the line.

The Z06 answers with 670 hp from a naturally aspirated flat-plane V8 that revs to 8,600 rpm, Cup 2 tires and carbon ceramics with the Z07 package, and available carbon fiber wheels. A 1LZ Z06 coupe is $121,695 with destination. For a weekend canyon car or a track toy, I’d still take the Z06. For one Corvette that does everything, the X makes a strong case.

Grand Sport X vs the discontinued E-Ray

The Grand Sport X beats the E-Ray on every published performance number, and the E-Ray is now a used-market car. Chevrolet ended E-Ray production with the 2026 model year, and CorvSport confirmed with a Bowling Green spokesperson that the Grand Sport X replaces it.

2027 Grand Sport X 2026 E-Ray
Engine 6.7L LS6 V8 6.2L LT2 V8
Front motor 186 hp / 145 lb-ft 160 hp / 125 lb-ft
Combined power 721 hp 655 hp
Battery 1.9 kWh 1.9 kWh
0-60 mph 2.4 sec 2.5 sec
Quarter mile 10.4 sec @ 131 mph 10.5 sec @ 126 mph
Stealth Mode top speed 50 mph 45 mph
Weight (coupe) 3,800 lb 3,774 lb
Tires 275/30ZR20 / 345/25ZR21 275/30ZR20 / 345/25ZR21
Last new price (1LZ/1LT coupe) $112,495 $111,095

E-Ray figures from GM TechLink and CorvSport; 2026 E-Ray price is $108,600 MSRP plus $2,495 destination. Weights from GM Authority.

The Grand Sport X makes 66 hp more than the E-Ray, 721 against 655, and its front motor is up from 160 hp to 186 hp. The 0-60 gap is small, 2.4 seconds against 2.5, but the quarter-mile trap speed jumps from 126 mph to 131 mph. That trap speed is the LS6 talking.

Here’s the used-market angle. A 2026 E-Ray 1LZ coupe stickered at $111,095 with destination, almost the same money as a new Grand Sport X 1LT at $112,495. That means a new E-Ray only makes sense now at a real discount. With the model discontinued and a quicker replacement on sale, a used or leftover E-Ray has to be priced well under a new X to be worth it.

If you’re shopping one, the E-Ray still gives you hybrid AWD, carbon ceramic brakes and the same tire sizes as the X. What you give up is the LS6, the extra 66 hp and the faster trap speed. Read through common C8 issues before you buy any used C8.

Where the Grand Sport X fits in the 2027 lineup

The Grand Sport X sits between the Grand Sport and the Z06 on price and beats both to 60 mph. Above it are the ZR1 and the ZR1X, which uses the same idea of a V8 plus a front motor, scaled to 1,250 hp. If the hybrid flagship is on your list, my ZR1 vs ZR1X breakdown covers that decision.

Model Power 0-60 mph Starting price
Stingray 535 hp 2.81 sec $73,795
Grand Sport 535 hp 2.75 sec $88,795
Grand Sport X 721 hp 2.4 sec $112,495
Z06 670 hp 2.6 sec $121,695
ZR1 1,064 hp 2.33 sec $197,495
ZR1X 1,250 hp 1.89 sec $227,695

0-60 times as compiled by GM Authority for the 2027 lineup; prices include $2,495 destination.

The Grand Sport X is the quickest Corvette under $190,000. Only the ZR1, at 2.33 seconds, and the ZR1X, at 1.89 seconds, get to 60 faster.
