Alright, so the all new C8 Corvette is a great sports car. But let’s get one thing straight, the stock exhaust needs some help. And that’s exactly where Fabspeed Motorsports comes in. They installed a nice set of straight pipes on this mid engine Corvette so let’s see how it sounds.
Cordes Performance Racing in Tempe, AZ has built a Custom C8 Cat Back exhaust for the new C8 Corvette.

In this video we install a set of Kooks 1-7/8″ headers on the C8 Corvette with the factory cats. Then we put it on the dyno to realize the gains, only for the big surprise to be that we went the opposite way. We think we identified the reason why and hope Kooks will address the issue. If they do, there will be a follow up video! Happy to announce we have partnered up with Kooks Headers and Exhaust to install a beautiful set of their new 1 7/8 304 Stainless Headers and Ultra Green High Flow Cats! Of course before installing the cats we had to see how she sounded with open headers! For the record these headers are not off a NASCAR but Kooks does make NASCAR headers and they sure sound like they are!

DEVELOPMENT: The factory valved exhaust is rather free flowing with valves open, and we wanted to craft an aggressive non-valved solution while mitigating drone through a longer exhaust tract. Our split bank 3″ crossover design offers maximum flow and V8 rumble while shedding approximately 20 lbs. We’ve incorporated mounting brackets for the factory exhaust valves (designed to limit flow in four-cylinder mode) to prevent them from being damaged or throwing a check engine light due to removal.
Due to the close proximity of the exhaust to sensitive components and plastic, heat shields are a MUST. We’ve heard rumors of GM discussing potential issues related to heat from modifying the exhausts with dealers and have taken every precaution to implement heat shielding into every solution. We’ve partnered with PTP Turbo Blankets to produce a bespoke, form-fitting heat shielding solution. Far superior to no-name brand copies, PTP Lava Turbo Blankets are constructed with an outer layer made from pulverized volcanic lava rock (Rated 1800°F Direct Heat / 2500°F Radiant Heat) formed into fabric and woven into a tight mesh weave. These blankets are internally insulated with high temperature calcium magnesium silicate wool (Rated 1832°F Continuous / 2300°F Peak) overlaid with a high temperature stainless steel mesh for increased durability and improved thermal resistance. The Lava Blankets are designed to withstand the harshest of conditions.
CONSTRUCTION: Each component is made in-house by our fabrication team from mandrel bent .060″ wall T304L stainless steel tubing, laser cut brackets, and waterjet cut flanges. Welds are back purged for proper penetration and maximum durability. Our 4″ double wall stainless steel tips are available in a number of finishes and have depth adjustment for perfect fitment to meet your desired aesthetic.
BOLT ON AND GO: Each exhaust component is built and tested in a thick gauge aluminum fixture (which prevents warping) to ensure perfect fitment. Every piece is rigorously quality-checked prior to shipping and then foam packed to ensure they arrive in perfect condition.

UPDATE! Soul Performance Full Cat Back Exhaust and Sports Cats for the C8 Corvette
Here is another Performance Shop Team Nur installing the new Soul Performance full C8 Exhaust.
With the Soul Performance Sport Cats for the C8 it improved the horsepower from 450 baseline to 471 with the stock exhaust still on. C8 picked up 20 wheel horsepower and 20+ more torque.
With the Soul Performance Sport Cats and the Soul Performance Cat back straight pipe it sounds insane and without tuning it gained about 5 more horsepower and torque as well. Overall it’s a win and sounds insane!

The Corvette C8 V8 has an amazing sound, thanks to it’s 6.2L. Also headers are one of the best mods on this platform, as it gives you more power. Combine this with the incredible sound and you have a winner. Accordingly modifying the catback section of the exhaust will give you more sound, but the headers are really where the power is at.
Certainly Headers free up a lot of power, especially when the car has a tune for the added airflow. Consequently the same is true for the Corvette C8 Headers. Truly any Corvette C8 V8 can benefit from a set of proper headers.
