The Corvette C8 Market is Cracking? C8 Corvette Price Data

Check out this video from Fourwheel Trader as he provides car depreciation analysis on many types of popular cars.

In this video he covers the still top selling and leader in July of 2021 C8 Corvette. We haven’t noticed that much cracking since the C8 is still hard to get and in most cases 12-18 months to get one in your hands when ordering as the lists are so big with Chevy dealers across the country.

The one thing that might slow it down is when Chevrolet announces the production dates on the new C8 Z06 on October 26th, 2021.

Following high demand and limited supply, Corvette C8 prices skyrocketed during last year. This uptrend continued during the last three months as the median price point increased even further by 4%. However, as this video will show you, the first signs of a trend change start to appear. First, we can observe that the upward price trend in the used car market came to an end. Used car prices didn’t increase during the last three months. Moreover, we can already see some price decreases at a more granular level. All of this is caused by an increase in used car supply and median mileage. Second, we can see that the price variation starts to decrease. Prices are less extreme and outliers are priced closer to the rest of the market. This usually signals that the market decided on the price. All of this fits within in the larger market trends. Wholesale prices continued to decrease during July and the average time in takes to sell a used car bottomed out. Yet, it’s unlikely that the C8 market will crash. It’s still the most popular car of the US and it’s sales numbers are miles ahead of the competition. Therefore, it’s more likely that prices will adjust gradually. Note that all the prices are advertised prices.

C8 Corvette E Ray Spotted! (Testing with Acura NSX)

Also, there has been article after article recently talking about the C8 Corvette E Ray testing with the Acura NSX. The C8 Corvette E Ray will not have all the same specs, tires, motors as the C8 Z06 but it will be getting all wheel drive. And possibly faster than the C8 Z06 going 0 to 60 in 2 seconds.

The C8 Corvette E Ray is suppose to be a hybrid assist C8 Corvette while the C8 Corvette Zora will be full electric along with the C9 Corvette is our guess to be an all electric Corvette line up.

It makes a lot of sense to use an Acura NSX as a benchmark since it has two electric motors up front on each wheel and an electric motor on it’s V6 Twin Turbo set up that pushed out 573 HP and is all wheel drive.

This is the way cars are going as shown with the fastest production car in the world the Tesla Model S Plaid running 9.2 second quarter miles at 154 mph and is a 4 door family sedan with 3 electric 400HP motors providing 1020 horsepower to the wheel with Elon Musk sand bagging the rest of the horsepower with a software update.

The Stradman Reveals his Widebody C8 Corvette he is Building for SEMA

Check out these videos from James “The Stradman” on YouTube who is on his 2nd C8 Corvette. The first one he sold for $30k profit thinking C8 Corvette prices would come down but they never have.

However, he found another C8 Corvette that he is adding the Pandem Rocket Bunny C8 Corvette kit.

Introducing my Finished Widebody C8 Corvette!!!

In this video in March 2022, TheStradman finally added C8 Corvette aftermarket wheels to his Widebody C8 Corvette that match the rapid blue paint and black section of the Pandem wide body kit.

Doesn’t look like theStradman lowered his C8 Corvette Widebody or put it on airbags or an airbag suspension like most C8 Corvette Widebody set ups do.

Chevy Announces 2023 C8 Corvette Z06 Reveal Date (October 26th)

Chevrolet has just released a video and social media announcement of the the 2023 C8 Corvette Z06 Reveal date of October 26th, 2021.

This is after Corvettes of Carlisle and before SEMA in Las Vegas as well as the Los Angeles Auto Show.

So it looks like they will have their own special event for the reveal of the C8 Corvette Z06 as they did when they unveiled the mid engine C8 Corvette to the world in the summer of 2019 in the California airport hanger with the NASA space theme.

Another C8 Corvette Breaks an Axle at the Drag Strip

In the latest video from Horsepower Obsessed he breaks an Axle drag racing his C8 Corvette.

His first run against a 2006 Z06 that ran a 11.3 was one of his best yet a 11.5 in the quarter mile but when he tried to line up again he broke an Axle which the C8 Corvettes are known to do especially with drag racing.

He knew right away it was an Axle “because they are weak” and the car was fine otherwise and still driving.

Back when they first came out and someone added NOS they broke the Axle on the C8 Corvette as well as you can see in the video below.

Also, we have heard from a Chevy Dealer that there has been a lot of the axles blow out especially at the boot vs the actual shaft breaking.

Worlds First Broken C8 Corvette!

The best thing you can do if you are going to drag race your C8 Corvette or run a ton of launch control launches over time is to upgrade the C8 Corvette Axles. There is an aftermarket Axle many C8 Corvette owners have used from Cicio Performance to Emelia Hartford and they used Driveshaft Shop 1400HP Axles.

GM sells the part for $250 vs. upgraded axles run over $1000.

Update on Corvette C8 Axles breaking

Ok it’s now 2022 and here is another C8 Corvette with a broken Axle from launching it at a drag strip. As you see it had to get towed but there is good news.

As you can see GM and Chevrolet took take of the Axle under warranty for the customer and for the most part we have see over 90% of things braking on the C8 Corvette covered under warranty with no problems.

GM is Fixing Everything on MY C8 Corvette!! (Axle and interior peeling and coming apart on C8)

Another thing to consider is GM and Chevrolet made the Corvette C8 Axle a weak point on purpose so doing launch after launch as most do to get the best zero to sixty 0 to 60) times on the C8 Corvette under 3 seconds wouldn’t let that brunt force go up the drivetrain and blow a transmission.

StreetHunter C8 Corvette is Done! (TJ Hunt Widebody C8 Corvette Kit)

Check out this video from SOS Customz as they reveal the first ever production StreetHunter C8 designed by the team of TJ Hunt.

We have been following the TJ Hunt Street Hunter C8 Corvette Wide Body Kit since the beginning as you can see here and here.

They have been working finishing this C8 Corvette wide body kit since December 2020. If you go to their “C8 Corvette” collection the only thing available is the front splitter as of this post.

Next they mention they are going to add an airbag suspension to be able to raise and lower this wide body C8 Corvette. TJ Hunt said as soon as it lowered and bagged and they take photos they will be selling it first come first serve and only had about 5 kits available.

He said he is going to get is C8 Corvette from Late Model Racecraft hopefully some time next week. He is building a 1,500 HP C8 Corvette to beat Emelia Hartford’s record.

You can tell the wing, aero, front bumpers and wheels are significantly different. The base model actually looks better in some angles with the wing and wheels in our opinion vs. the C8 Z07 Z06 model.
