C8 Corvette vs Porsche 992 VIDEO Review (DETAILED Comparison)

Check out this video review from RacerX on YouTube as he compares the Porsche 992 to the Corvette C8 to see if an American made car can beat a German made car.

The Porsche 992 comes with only flat 6 with a Twin Turbo with 397 horsepower vs. the C8 Corvette at 495 horsepower with a natural aspirated V8.

They both of the same 20 inch sized wheels and tires and the Porsche 992 weighs in in the 3200-3700 range depending on the model and options while the C8 Corvette weighs about 3300 lbs.

The Porsche 992 starts at $98k while the C8 Corvette starts at 60k but can be optioned up to the high 90k low 100k area depending on the carbon fiber added to the C8 Corvette as well. There are companies like Racing Sport Concepts that offers aftermarket C8 Corvette carbon fiber parts as well as Porsche carbon fiber parts too.

Another Chevy Dealership Service Technician Going Over 100MPH

A few months ago we posted an update to a C8 Corvette customer showing a Chevy Dealership service technician going over 100MPH in his car.

And now another Chevy Dealership service tech was caught on the C8 Corvette PDR (performance data recorder) going over 140MPH cutting in and out of traffic and reckless driving with a customer car as well.

What do you guys think? What would you do if this was your C8 Corvette that was raced on the highway over 140MPH after bringing it in for service and an engine knock?

Update: It looks like the video was removed or taken down because the owner was happy with what the dealer offered him which sounds like they agreed to an extended warranty. Per reddit

My C8 is Back 2.5 Months and $26,500 later…

Check out this video from Gabe Rolf Cars and his update on his new transmission, AC repair, and cats. It cost over $26,000 to fix the AC compressor, transmission, and cats. It cost him only $16.00 since everything was under warranty of course.

If you want to see his other videos where his C8 Corvette Transmission went out and he needed a new one check out the videos here.

If you want to see more of his C8 Corvette videos you are going to be disappointed he’s now going to sell his C8 Corvette while the market is hot and after experiencing these issues.

C8 Corvette Mark Ups Continue with the 2023 Corvette C8 Z06

In this video by YouTuber Speed Phenom, Austin Everett the C8 Corvette mark ups will continue on the 2023 C8 Corvette Z06, however how high are people on these “lists” able to spend or want to spend on the new Corvette C8 Z06 will be the question.

You will notice Speed Phenom, Austin Everett go to at least 5 Chevrolet dealers in the Los Angeles area. And not only do a few have 100s on their C8 Corvette Z06 list most have already said they will be adding a $20k – $30k mark up on the C8 Corvette Z06 that comes out in 2023 as well.

The funny part of this video is some of these same Chevy dealers in California he visited had 1LT C8 Corvettes marked up $50k plus still.

This C8 Corvette market is hot, the chip shortages, lockdowns, and UAW strike didn’t help and now it doesn’t look like its going to cool off anytime soon.

I know people already selling or trying to sell their 2020, 2021 C8 Corvettes in anticipation for the C8 Z06 that is coming however you might not be able to get one for a long time like the C8 Corvette base model Stingray so maybe its worth keeping it and trading it in or selling once you actually secure a C8 Corvette Z06 in hand because this market isn’t slowing down anytime soon and there are more mark ups to come.

The real question is how high is someone willing to spend in getting a C8 Corvette Z06? Say it starts a $90k base and marked up another $20k before options and options put you over $120k depending on the 4 possible C8 Corvette Z06 variants and we are just using a base C8 Z06 as an example will people go up to $120k for the C8 Z06? Only time will tell.

Eventually as the C8 Corvette gets closer to McLaren and Lamborghini prices and with the electric vehicle market ramping up now that the Tesla Plaid is the king of the road performance wise at the 130k range what’s going to be the number people drop off lists, can’t afford the C8 Z06 or start to question whether they should get a C8 Z06 vs some of the other cars that end up being in the same price range?

Here’s the video from Speed Phenom to see what happened when he went to Chevy stores in his area to find out more information about the 2023 C8 Corvette Z06.

2023 C8 Corvette Z06 New Colors?

There is a a lot of speculation and hope for GM and Chevrolet to come out with more exotic looking colors for the C8 Z06.

Some of the colors C8 Corvette owners keep asking for is a bright or acid green color which is a very popular Lamborghini known as Verde Mantis.

If you are an avid Corvette fan you might want to plan ahead and get your Corvette parts and accessories that will suit the anticipated colors.

In the last year they launched Amplify Orange, Caffeine Metallic, Hypersonic Gray. The only color of the 3 that might stand out is the Hypersonic gray but they already had Shadow Metallic Grey, Ceramic Matric Grey, and Silver Flare. Also, they already had a Zeus Bronze and Sebring Orange so these 3 new C8 Corvette Colors for the 2022 C8 Corvette really aren’t that outside the box.

In this video from Brink of Speed on YouTube besides an exotic green like Lamborghini, Porsche, and McLaren offer he mentions an exotic purple which would be cool and then orange again which really they have already went that route twice now.

He also talks about the new C8 Corvette DCT Magnesium transmission that was spied and we shared in our last post with Rick Corvette Conti’s latest video.

UPDATE Nov 24th, 2021: 2023 New C8 Z06 Colors Carbon Flash Black and Pearl White

In this video HorsePower Obsessed on YouTube goes over someone spotting two new C8 Corvette Z06 colors in a display case at the LA Auto Show recently and it isn’t Green or Purple as everyone hoped for.

It’s actually a color that General Motors and Chevrolet have done in the past and that currently use on their Cadillac brand of cars and trucks.

Its pearl white and carbon flash metallic black. Now the only question seems to be what two colors will they get rid of since they usually stick to 12 paint colors for the C8 Corvette vs 14 colors if they added these two.

C8 Z06 Going to Have a Magnesium DCT Transmission?

Check out this video from YouTuber and Corvette salesperson Rick Corvette Conti as he interviews Brandon Byers with Vette Titans about the video footage he got of the new C8 Corvette Z06 test mules that stopped at a hotel overnight.

He said he thinks its going to have a center exhaust with a magnesium DCT transmission and probably a lot more magnesium parts (oil pan) to save weight. There was no Twin Turbo set up and possibly a magnesium exhaust as well. They all had the same wheels some had ceramic brakes which makes sense on a C8 Z06 variant of the C8 Corvette.

Also, he thinks they are were just testing out handling and have not yet refined the diffuser, exhaust tips, wheels, or exhaust set up although towards the rright and left side of the car where the current C8 Corvette exhaust tips come out were just “dummy” pipes.

However, the most clear image he captured was a magnesium DCT transmission from Tremec which could be just a coating by why only go that far with a coating only vs full magnesium to really save weight.

Which makes sense since General Motors (GM) been testing and using magnesium since 2012 and it’s 75% lighter than steel and 33% lighter than aluminum and they said by 2020 that they could shave off 15% of weight on their cars.

If that is the case they can take a 3300lb C8 corvette to under 3k pounds to the 2862 lb mark and really start competing with the likes of McLaren, Porsche, Lamborghini and now the Tesla Plaid.

Performance Shop Trades in C8 Corvette for Tesla Plaid!

Check out this video from Complete Street Performance owner Andrew where he trades in his C8 Corvette he used to build a Twin Turbo kit for the C8 and gets a Tesla Plaid!

I Traded My 2020 C8 Corvette For The Fastest Production Car In The World!

You know things are getting real with electric vehicles when a performance shop owner that has a business to mod and tune gas powered vehicles to perform as well or better than the Tesla Plaid.

This isn’t his first Tesla and probably won’t be his last as you see in the comments of his video a lot of “ICE” fans give him some push back but he’s embracing the American made electric vehicles made by Tesla now that that are coming from factory with a warranty “no mods” and running low 9 second quarter mile times with a 0-60 under 2 seconds.

As we posted recently having a C8 Corvette ourselves and having a Tesla plaid on order is the C8 Corvette platform ever going to be able to compete with the Tesla Plaid at this level? Will the new C8 Z06, C8ZR1, Zora or the C8 E-Ray have a chance?

Guess we will have to wait and see. Most car manufactures including Lamborghini and Audi have said all cars will be electric by 2025/2026.

Internal Combustion Engine will become a “classic” and history as we continue to move towards the EV revolution.

We even have to admit with being on 4 C8 Z06 lists we dropped off one of them because of the Tesla Plaid taking some of the excitement away from the C8 Corvette platform if its not going to be able to compete with performance the Tesla Plaid achieving. And if you have noticed all of the modded C8 Twin Turbo set ups either break a lot, aren’t reliable, need upgraded clutches and constant fixing to get in that low 9s quarter mile range. It takes a lot of dough, headaches, know how, or performance shops to build the C8 to do this even with a Twin Turbo set up.

Emelia Hartford who has the record has probably put in at least 50k to her C8 Corvette to run low 9s a couple times and is currently fixing her clutches again to see if she can break her 9.4 run. Tesla Plaid runs a 9.2 as soon as you get your Tesla plaid from the service center, giga factory or delivered to your home and it can run that over and over and over again without any worry with a warranty.
