C8 Corvette vs Audi R8! (VIDEO REVIEW)

Is The R8 Actually Worth It? vs the C8 Corvette?

Check out this video from YouTuber EddieX where he compares a C8 Corvette to his Audi R8. Right away a used R8 RWD in price doesn’t compare in price 130k vs. 85k, which on average is 45k more and has a lot less to offer especially in creature comforts.

With an Audi R8 there isn’t even a front lift option and the 0-60 times are a lot worse compared to the C8 Corvette that goes 0 to 60 in less than 3 seconds and the Audi R8 RWD is lucky to get a 3.7 zero to 60 time.

Per his video description of the C8 vs R8

The latest generation of the Corvette has become a mid-engine sports car, which really elevates the performance as well as the exotic appeal of this American icon. So now how does it compare with a much more expensive mid-engine sports car, the Audi R8?

Its interesting how similar the recipes are, NA engine behind you, dual-clutch transmission and RWD.

One of the biggest differences is going to be price. When brand new, the R8 and this C8 I’m driving are essentially $70,000 apart, but R8s are available used now, so the specific price delta here is $40,000. After having driven and tracked the new C8 Stingray, and been in many R8s (recently purchasing a 2018 R8 RWS), I started thinking about if the R8 is actually worth it. We discuss some of the similarities, differences and how each car compares to the other. Do you think the R8 is worth spending extra money on? Which would you rather drive and own?

Is the C8 Corvette as Good as a Porsche 718 Spyder?

Check out this video from Speed Phenom on YouTube where he compares a Porsche 718 Spyder vs. a C8 Corvette that he has owned for over 20,000 miles.

2020 Mid engine Porsche vs. 2020 Mid Engine C8 Corvette

Some of the differences they point out with these two mid engine cars

  • Porsche 718 Spyder has a manual option
  • 6 piston brakes on the Porsche 718 Spyder
  • 4 piston Brembo brakes on the C8 Corvette
  • 718 Spyder gets from 060 in just 4.2 seconds
  • C8 Corvette gets from 0-60 in under 3.0 seconds
  • 718 Spyder 3200lbs
  • C8 Corvette 3366lbs

To point out they always give the “manual” experience story and Speed Phenom said “if the C8 Corvette had a manual people would buy it no..”

And if you look at the stats on the C7 Corvette only 13% of the C7s sold were manual. So the numbers show even though all these car guys always talk about getting a manual, missing a manual etc… most don’t buy them.

Automatic dual clutch transmissions are hard to beat and nowadays people need another hand for their phones. (lol)

C8 Corvette vs Acura NSX, Which is Better?

Check out this video review comparison of the C8 Corvette vs the Acura NSX (2nd Gen) by YouTuber RacerX.

In this video you can see the C8 Corvette Naturally Aspirated 495 Horsepower V8 Mid Engine set up vs. the Hybrid Twin Turbo V6 Acura NSX that has 3 electric motors and 573 Horsepower.

Also, the pricing is a very big difference when you can get a base model 1LT C8 Corvette starting at $60k and even Used Acura NSX models are selling for over double or $120k plus!

We shared another C8 Corvette vs Acura NSX  from Speed Phenom as well and he gives more of a track comparison too.

Searching for C8 Corvette Carbon Fiber Parts?

As more and more C8 Corvettes are produced many C8 Corvette owners look to modify their C8 Corvettes with Carbon Fiber parts, wheels, lowering kits, and engine mods.

One of the parts that was hard to find and General Motors and Chevrolet had a shortage of and even stopped selling was their high wing spoiler and well as the C8 Corvette carbon fiber aero kit they offered with side skirts and front lip.

One company we found that is high quality and really stands out nicely is Racing Sport Concepts. They were the first company to build a carbon fiber rear spoiler for the C8 Corvette that has that duck bill look.

We noticed it on Gabe Florido’s C8 Corvette that is very popular on Instagram. He also just added the Racing Sport Concepts carbon fiber diffuser for the C8 Corvette they sell as well.

C8 Z06 Testing Launch Control?, News, and C8 Z06 Insights (VIDEO)

Check out this video from Rick Corvette Conti where it shows the C8 Z06 testing pre production mule using launch control.

The engine has that high pitch Ferrari 458 sound and is very similar to the C8.R Racing Corvette that has a 5.5L flat plane crank engine. The new DOHC engine makes 500 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque in race trim but could easily exceed 600 hp when uncorked.

Recently we shared another video of more C8 Z06 and possibly C8 ZR1 Corvettes testing and some of them had a center exhaust.

Here’s another video from Road and Track and possibly the original source of the video.

How the Chevrolet C8 Corvette Z06 will appreciate in value over time

Check out this interesting video by High Octane Only on YouTube to learn his perspective on why he thinks the C8 Z06 will appreciate in value over time.

Per his video description:

These are my top 5 reasons as to why the 2022 c8 corvette Z06 will appreciate over time. You have to take a number of things into consideration and this by no means guarantees that it will appreciate. However, taking a look at historical data on what types of vehicles tend to increase in value, I can say with a moderate degree of certainty that the C8 Z06 corvette will be one of those vehicles. Watch the video to find out why!
