C8 Corvette Z06 vs Lamborghini Huracan EVO (AWD)

In this video by Drag Times on YouTube you can see a C8 Corvette Z06 Convertible race a Lamborghini Huracan EVO all wheel drive at the track in the quarter mile. It’s a best of three race series where you get to see both the C8 Z06 and Huracan launch as well as the top end of each car at the end of the Quarter mile.

C8 Z06 vs Lamborghini Huracan Evo Quarter Mile Times

In the three quarter mile races you can see the Lamborghini Huracan EVO have a lot more top end speed then the C8 Corvette Z06.

However the C8 Z06 is heavier especially since this is the convertible variant of the C8 Z06. They both were in the high 10’s in the quarter mile and the C8 Z06 only won because of a red light as well as a bad launch of the Huracan EVO.

The times that this C8 Corvette Z06 aren’t the fastest times we have seen where the coupe model C8 Z06 with a change of rear tires that are better for that track has achieved lower 10s in the quarter mile and more in the 10.3-10.6 second range.

Nonetheless, the C8 Corvette Z06 MSRP ($140k with the spec in the video) is well over 100k less then a Huracan EVO currently without considering all the mark ups that dealers and people are putting on the C8 Corvette Z06 on sites like Cars and Bids.

Hoovies Garage Adds Soul Performance Sport Cats to his C8 Z06

In this video Hoovies Garage adds new Soul Performance sport cats to his Chevrolet Corvette Z06.

Hoovies Garage “lucked” into a C8 Corvette Z06 from the car dealership he use to work at before his YouTube and Autotrader career. Tyler “Hoovie” Hoover said he knows he has hit the lottery with his C8 Corvette Z06 since they are selling well above MSRP and production keeps having issues.

Chevrolet C8 Z06 SOUL Sport Catalytic Converters

Price: $3,960.00

Built around larger catalytic converters than previous generations due to the higher demands of the new 5.5L LT6 V8, our Sport Catalytic Converters for the C8 Z06 replace the factory units to extract additional sound and power from one of 2023’s most anticipated performance cars.

+  All Soul Performance Products exhaust components are backed by a renowned Lifetime Warranty for both street and track use
+  Added performance with NO check engine light
+  Designed and built in-house at our Willow Grove, PA facility

You can buy the sport cats from Soul Performance here and mention you saw them on C8CorvetteBlog.com

Tyler Hoovie Hoover mentions he went with just sport cats since the stock C8 Corvette Z06 cat back is already valved and there wasn’t a need for it.

In the video you can hear the sport cats add more volume to the C8 Corvette Z06 system making the C8 Z06 a lot louder.

C8 Corvette Plant Shut Down Again, C8 Z06 Orders Cancelled?

In this video Rick Corvette Conti gives an update on the C8 Z06 and clarifies his message of the Bowling Green Kentucky Corvette plant being shut down for more than one week.

Chevrolet sent out emails to certain people including someone at 3400 status that was suppose to have a C8 Corvette Z06 built this week that their C8 Corvette Z06 order was cancelled.

Luckily as Rick points out after checking with sources the email was an error and part of an automated message from Chevrolet.

With the Corvette plant being shut down it will shift build and production weeks pushing them out even further. Ever since the C8 Corvette came out in 2020 it has been nothing but a nightmare with this car and the new C8 Z06.

The supply chain and parts issues are still a problem as well as dealers lying to people on lists and mark ups well over MSRP with most being marked up over $50,000 on the New C8 Z06s ordered for stock vs allowing a customer to order and design it themselves.

Even on Cars and Bids C8 Z06s have been sold for well over MSRP already and there hasn’t even been more than 1,500 made since the first allocations were given in August of 2022.

In this video Rick Corvette Conti shares information about the March 2023 C8 Corvette Z06 allocations and mentions Chevy dealers in the entire country didn’t receive any.

He mentioned now Chevrolet dealers need to wait until April 2023 to see if they can get any more C8 Corvette Z06 allocations to fulfill their C8 Corvette Z06 wait lists.

More about the C8 Corvette

Listen, we all know this race is going to end with the 2023 Corvette Z06 running circles around its lesser Stingray sibling. But just how drastically will the Z06 annihilate the Stingray? That’s what we wanted to find out, so we put them on our Edmunds U-Drag track to see how things shook out. Edmunds’ Clint Simone takes you through our Corvette Z06 vs. Stingray U-Drag in the video above! What is a U-Drag race? A U-Drag race consists of both cars heading down the track like a standard drag race, then braking hard, flipping around and then heading back. Source Edmonds

Conclusion of the C8 Z06 vs C8 Corvette Stingray Model

The C8 Corvette Z06 with the Z07 carbon fiber track package and carbon fiber wheels gapped the base model C8 Corvette Stingray by about 3-4 car lengths.

However the C8 Corvette Stingray did hang with the C8 Z06 at the launch but loses once the C8 Z06 gains traction and the top end kicks in.

C8 Z06 vs McLaren 765LT

The C8 Corvette Z06 was only 1.8 seconds off the Edmunds U Drags Leaderboard champion the McLaren 765LT. Keeping in mind the McLaren 765LT is well over $200k more just on MSRP numbers coming in at $358,000 not including any mark ups on either car.

Stradman C8 Z06 Warranty and Transmission Issue

So part of Chevrolet and General Motors new policy with the C8 Corvette Z06 is that if it is sold prior to they original owner owning it more than 6 months the warranty is voided.

As stated in the Cars and Bids auction for the C8 Z06 Stradman sold there he did include that disclaimer as well as made in an depth video of everything about the car including the C8 Z06 transmission pan gasket being fixed under warranty while he had it.

Another Blown C8 Z06 Engine (GM Fixes in 2 Weeks)

In this video Marco with SteelAnkles on YouTube discusses his experience with his new C8 Z06 blown engine at 621 miles. As he states he did follow the break in period although he hasn’t had to do that with other cars he has owned.

You can see and hear in the video towards the end a valve or lifter seems to go bad. Also, in the video you can see he is a good sport about the situation since GM and his local Chevy dealer City Chevy in Charlotte, NC actually fixed it and put a new engine in the car in two weeks time.

He mentioned the tech told him there was another C8 Z06 Corvette that had an engine blown as well besides the one in California which was one of the first ones to show it on YouTube.  They wouldn’t let him know what happened but there is a speculation it spun a rod bearing and then locked the engine.

This is the second C8 Z06 with a blow engine and both were under 1,000 miles. The other C8 Z06 that blew an engine we have an article about was at about 52 miles after leaving the dealership in California.

Funny enough he goes by Marco Polo on his YouTube and he said he was going to keep his car and let GM fix it as well. Also, since that incident he has posted YouTube Shorts allowing Sigala Designs to use his car for carbon fiber aero designs so it looks like it was fixed already too.

Now that he has the second engine installed he also did a review of his Amplify Orange C8 Corvette Z06.

Best C8 Corvette Z06 Exhaust? (Stock vs Aftermarket)

In these videos by Fabspeed Motorsport and StreetSpeed717 you can hear the difference between the stock C8 Z06 exhaust and their first ever aftermarket exhaust components for the C8 Z06.

Fabspeed Motorsport was the first aftermarket exhaust shop to get a hold of a C8 Z06 thanks to StreetSpeed717. And using his car they were able to build a mold for a new cat back exhaust system for the C8 Z06 as well as sport cats.

A couple things you will notice in the videos is the stock C8 Corvette Z06 exhaust is amazing as is since Chevrolet took over two years to refine the sound from the flat plane crank engine they modeled off of the Ferrari 458.

Another thing you will notice with just the sport cats alone the C8 Z06 gets a louder sound but same tone from the stock exhaust built for the C8 Z06. Emelia Hartford has a video as well where she shows the stock C8 Z06 exhaust is straight piped in track mode.

So really the difference with the Fabspeed Motorsport cat back exhaust for the C8 Corvette Z06 is losing weight, better looking, and a little bit more of a higher pitched tone or sound.

After watching the videos what do you think? Leave a comment below would you leave a Corvette Z06 exhaust stock, add Fabspeed sport cats for the C8 Z06, or a complete system with the Fabspeed Motorsport cat back as well?

Fabspeed High Flow Sport Cats C8 Corvette Z06

Fabspeed explains the sport cats look very similar to the base model C8 Corvette however they are more high flow with a larger HJS 200 Cell cat.

They also gained about 19 more horsepower with their dyno testing just adding the Sport cats to the C8 Z06. Also, with their Supersport X-pipe exhaust they still were able to get more performance and sound gains.

If you are interested in purchasing the Fabspeed cat back exhaust or sport cats for the new Corvette Z06 check out more information here and when contacting them to purchase mention you found them on C8CorvetteBlog.com

C8 Z06 Sells at Mecum for $140k PLUS over MSRP

In this video by Flying Wheels on YouTube he films the first C8 Corvette Z06 being sold for well over $140k above the MSRP of $113k at Mecum Auctions in Florida. The sold priced of the C8 Corvette Z06 at Mecum Auctions was $275,000.

This was the Mecum Auctions in Kissimmee, Florida over the January 14th, 15th weekend and first C8 Z06 to hit the auction scene not including the Charity auction with Barrett Jackson the Rick Hendrick won.

Mecum Auctions 1st ever 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 sells to the public at the Mecum Auctions in Kissimmee Orlando Florida January 14 202I.

Up next starting January 21st, 2022 until January 29th, 2022 Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale should have a few of these C8 Corvette Z06s on the auction block and we will get to see if this trend continues.

One thing we know for sure is Chevy dealerships have been marking up the C8 Corvette stingray since it came out in 2020 and have been marking up the C8 Corvette Z06 anywhere from $50,000 to $100,000 as well.

There were 120 Chevrolet Corvette Z06s ordered for stock and dealers are taking advantage of the C8 Z06 market as it might be the last naturally aspirated Corvette ever produced since Chevrolet is announcing the C8 Corvette E Ray hybrid electric all wheel drive model on January 17th.

I FOUND A DEALER HOARDING NEW Z06 CORVETTES! *UNBELIEVABLE PRICES*

In this video by Speed Phenom he finds a Chevrolet dealership Connell Chevrolet in Costa Mesa, California area hoarding Chevy Corvette Z06s.

Since the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06  starting hitting dealer lots that ordered them for stock vs all the people and customers waiting in line Chevy dealers are marking them up over $50-100k+ and more.

c8 corvette z06 mark ups

In the video if you pause it around the 2 minute and 11 second mark on Speed Phenom’s video you can see this dealer is Connell Chevrolet in Costa Mesa, California. They received four C8 Corvette Z06s and still haven’t sold any of them. And they said they have no customer orders but are going to mark up the C8 Corvette Z06s.

Connell Chevrolet

So four C8 Corvette Z06s that could of went to customers waiting on MSRP lists like Ciocca Corvette instead of this Chevy dealer in Costa Mesa, CA hoarding them and marking them up as Speed Phenom points out.

2023 C8 Corvette Z06 Engine Problems after 50 miles! (VIDEO)

In this video by Marco Garcia on YouTube (update he changed his YouTube to Marco Polo/poloworld310) he documents buying a C8 Corvette Z06 for $50,000 over sticker for a C8 Z06 1LZ base model from Covina Hills Chevrolet and it needing to be flat bedded 50 miles of driving it!

This is not the first C8 Z06 problem or issue we posted about the Stradman having a transmission issue with the C8 Z06 that turned out to be a minor transmission pan gasket fix under warranty.

However, in this video you can now see not only did this 1LZ base model (111k-113k) C8 Corvette Z06 cost $50,000 over sticker at Covina Hills Chevrolet it died 50 miles from the dealership and they wouldn’t accept the tow to the dealer. Marco Garcia had to have it towed back to his construction business lot.

There have only been about 400 C8 Corvette Z06s made at this point and not every  C8 Corvette Z06 is being put on YouTube but at least two now are having transmission or engine issues. Also, StreetSpeed717 documented his throwing check engine lights if he does donuts in the car.

Check out this video on the New 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 breaking down after 50 miles of leaving the dealer that marked it up $50,000.

Leave a comment on what you think went wrong with the engine and that really bad knocking sound as well as launch of this car that has been really bad.

GM and Chevrolet has favored YouTubers, Chevy Dealers are marking them up $50-200k, and now the first few to hit the streets are breaking. Will things get better or worse for the C8 Z06?

Videos were made private however there is a video at the bottom of the post with the C8 Corvette Z06 engine noise it was making at 52 miles.

UPDATE: 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Broken Engine Transmission

In this update Marco Garcia goes over day number two for the C8 Corvette Z06 with the engine issues. He has experienced bad service with the Chevy dealership he purchased it from and since it only had 50 miles on it OnStar didn’t haven’t the warranty information.

Once his dealership got to the dealer he started receiving OnStar email messages and the My Chevrolet app said everything is good. Then he received an emission warning and then he received an issue with the Engine and Transmission system and to bring it in 1 day.

He is requesting his cash back from Covina Hills Chevrolet where he gave them $50,000 over and paid for his C8 Corvette Z06 in cash.

UPDATE! Marco Keeps the C8 Z06 even though dealer offered full refund and he paid over MSRP

He mentioned the the dealer gave him 3 options on his C8 Z06 that blew the engine..

  1. Full refund 180K+
  2. Wait 2 months and get parts to fix
  3. Get next allocation in 6 months or so

He chose number 2 and is going to wait for parts and for this C8 Z06 that was bought for $69k over sticker with tax and other up charges from the dealer.

Also, he made his other videos private however there are other people that reposted the engine sound after 52 miles and had to get it towed.
