2023 C8 Corvette Z06 Engine Problems after 50 miles! (VIDEO)

In this video by Marco Garcia on YouTube (update he changed his YouTube to Marco Polo/poloworld310) he documents buying a C8 Corvette Z06 for $50,000 over sticker for a C8 Z06 1LZ base model from Covina Hills Chevrolet and it needing to be flat bedded 50 miles of driving it!

This is not the first C8 Z06 problem or issue we posted about the Stradman having a transmission issue with the C8 Z06 that turned out to be a minor transmission pan gasket fix under warranty.

However, in this video you can now see not only did this 1LZ base model (111k-113k) C8 Corvette Z06 cost $50,000 over sticker at Covina Hills Chevrolet it died 50 miles from the dealership and they wouldn’t accept the tow to the dealer. Marco Garcia had to have it towed back to his construction business lot.

There have only been about 400 C8 Corvette Z06s made at this point and not every  C8 Corvette Z06 is being put on YouTube but at least two now are having transmission or engine issues. Also, StreetSpeed717 documented his throwing check engine lights if he does donuts in the car.

Check out this video on the New 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 breaking down after 50 miles of leaving the dealer that marked it up $50,000.

Leave a comment on what you think went wrong with the engine and that really bad knocking sound as well as launch of this car that has been really bad.

GM and Chevrolet has favored YouTubers, Chevy Dealers are marking them up $50-200k, and now the first few to hit the streets are breaking. Will things get better or worse for the C8 Z06?

Videos were made private however there is a video at the bottom of the post with the C8 Corvette Z06 engine noise it was making at 52 miles.

UPDATE: 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Broken Engine Transmission

In this update Marco Garcia goes over day number two for the C8 Corvette Z06 with the engine issues. He has experienced bad service with the Chevy dealership he purchased it from and since it only had 50 miles on it OnStar didn’t haven’t the warranty information.

Once his dealership got to the dealer he started receiving OnStar email messages and the My Chevrolet app said everything is good. Then he received an emission warning and then he received an issue with the Engine and Transmission system and to bring it in 1 day.

He is requesting his cash back from Covina Hills Chevrolet where he gave them $50,000 over and paid for his C8 Corvette Z06 in cash.

UPDATE! Marco Keeps the C8 Z06 even though dealer offered full refund and he paid over MSRP

He mentioned the the dealer gave him 3 options on his C8 Z06 that blew the engine..

  1. Full refund 180K+
  2. Wait 2 months and get parts to fix
  3. Get next allocation in 6 months or so

He chose number 2 and is going to wait for parts and for this C8 Z06 that was bought for $69k over sticker with tax and other up charges from the dealer.

Also, he made his other videos private however there are other people that reposted the engine sound after 52 miles and had to get it towed.

Doug DeMuro C8 Corvette Z06 Review: Bargain Supercar (VIDEO)

In this video by Doug DeMuro owner of Cars and Bids and popular YouTube car reviewer he gives his take and Doug Score on the all new 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06.

Doug DeMuro did review the C8 Z06 at the unveil at the Petersen Museum but is giving some more insights on the C8 Z06 with it in hand now with the ability to drive it as well.

Doug DeMuro also reviewed the C8 Corvette Stingray with other car YouTubers giving C8 Corvette reviews which is one of his most popular videos which just goes to show how popular of a car the C8 Corvette platform truly is. It’s hard to dispute you get so much value with the price point and power vs. the Supercar and exotic car market.

People often ask me why I don’t review modified cars. Today Doug DeMuro is explaining why he doesn’t review modified cars. I’m going to explain what a modified car is (to me, anyway), and then I’ll cover the reasons why I only review clean, unmodified cars.

Doug Demuro Likes and Dislikes of the C8 Corvette Z06

  • Flat plane crank 670 HP engine mid 10s in the quarter mile for the C8 Z06
  • The look of the C8 Corvette Z06 with a wider body and Z07 track package and carbon fiber
  • 66 out of 100 on the Doug Score scoring higher than a 2020 Porsche 718, 2021 M4, Nissan GT-R Nismo but lower than a 2022 Porsche 911 GT3, McLaren 675LT, McLaren 720s, Porsche 911 GT2RS and Lamborghini Huracan Performante
  • Amazing weekend car but he doesn’t like it daily with a more harsher ride and only scoring the car 2 spot above the regular C8 Corvette Stingray

How to Get a C8 Corvette into Neutral with Engine Off

In this video Squirrel Cage Garage covers the only ways to get your C8 Corvette into neutral when the engine is off if you don’t want to use car wheel dollies.

This video is very relevant since the Stradman just had a transmission issue and problem with his new C8 Corvette Z06 and he couldn’t figure out how to get his C8 Z06 into neutral and had to use dollys to move it around the garage while it was leaking transmission fluid.

When Chevrolet sent out a local service tech from a Chevy dealer in Utah they confirmed and showed a special tool you can use to disengage the DCT/parking pull.

C8 Corvette All Wheel Drive Hybrid Eray Visualizer LEAKED

In the video below you can see Rick Corvette Conti a corvette salesman at a Chevy Dealer in Ohio confirm the Corvette E Ray Visualizer leak is real. And the Corvette Eray is suppose to come out in the Summer of 2023.

If you want the direct link to the Corvette E Ray visualizer to start to build and design yours click here, otherwise keep reading. Also, learn more about the Chevy Corvette E Ray since as of January 17th, 2022 it was unveiled by Chevrolet after we created the information about the E Ray leak.

Also based on the Corvette E Ray 2024 Visualizer tool leaked it looks like the Corvette E Ray will be sharing the same C8 Corvette Z06 widebody. However it looks like the Corvette E Ray will not have the same center exhaust as the C8 Corvette Z06.

And as we have pointed out over a year ago thanks to Chevy dude it’s going to be an All Wheel Drive Hybrid Electric C8 Corvette. Chevrolet has hinted at this with their Instagram and social media videos as well as shown here.

Also, just like it’s competitor the Corvette Eray was spotted with the Acura NSX also has front electric motors powering the front wheels with a hybrid assist motor on the back of the engine.

C8 Corvette Colors (New with the Corvette E RayModel)

  • Riptide Blue Metallic (2024 Chevrolet Equinox Color as shown here)
  • Sea Wolf Gray Tri Coat (there is actually a submarine that is called Seawolf with this color in the US Navy) when searching “seawolf gray” on Google images.
  • Cacti Green (also coming on the Chevrolet Trax for 2024 as shown here)

In the new Corvette Eray visualizer that was leaked three new colors C8 Corvette colors were leaked as well. One of the colors is a faded green C8 Corvette color called Cacti and the other is a new gray color called the Sea Wolf Gray Tri Coat to replace the ceramic matrix gray color that Chevrolet had as an option for the C8 Corvette. Another color that went away is the Caffeine color (Rick refers to as Meatloaf) which replaced Zeus Bronze on the original 2020 C8 Corvette rollout. Also there is a new Riptide Blue Metallic color that is replacing the Elkhart Lake Blue color. They also removed white pearl metallic color and are allowing carbon flash metallic without the “70th” anniversary package.

C8 Corvette Colors removed starting with the Corvette E Ray

  • Caffeine Metallic
  • White Pearl Metallic
  • Elkhart Lake Blue
  • Ceramic Matrix Gray

Here you can see with the C8 Corvette Z06 Visualizer none of these colors are available yet. Also, as you will see below the wheel options and interior isn’t available yet either.

Corvette Eray

Here you can see some more details of the all new all wheel drive Hybrid C8 Corvette Eray from Aaron on Twitter. Which shows the Corvette Eray will have 605 Horsepower about 65 less Horsepower than the C8 Z06.

Also, all of the Corvette Erays shown in the leaked visualizer tool are full body color optioned cars without the option for carbon flash on the side vents or front or back bumper areas as shown before in the other C8 Corvette models like the Stingray and 2023 C8 Corvette Z06.

Stradman’s C8 Corvette Z06 LEAKING Oil or Transmission Fluid?

In this video you can see the Stradman’s C8 Corvette Z06 has a huge puddle of either transmission fluid or oil. The Stradman James thinks it’s transmission fluid. Rick Conti thinks from his Chevy rep its a possible transmission seal and no the transmission fluid isn’t red.

Chevrolet told him not to start the C8 Z06 in case it is and the transmission doesn’t have any fluid it would blow the transmission. Transmission problems are not new to the C8 Corvette. We have documented others documenting their C8 Corvette transmission problems and issues too.

It’s a Tremac DCT, however the C8 Z06 just started getting delivered to YouTubers like the Stradman and this is the first documented issue with the new 2023 Chevrolet C8 Corvette Z06.

We will keep this post updated when Stradman shares what happened but below is a video from Rick Corvette Conti on what he thinks about the C8 Z06 issue.

Rick Corvette Conti thinks The Stradman didn’t break in his C8 Corvette Z06 properly since he was drag racing with the Triple F Collection. You can see the Stradman drag racing the C8 Corvette Z06 already.

The recommendation is to wait until after 1,500 miles to start any track racing with the new C8 Corvette Z06

C8 Corvette Z06 vs Porsche 992 GT3 vs Audi R8 V10 Drag RACE! (VIDEO)

In this video by Hagerty on YouTube you will see the C8 Corvette Z06 demolish a Porsche 992 GT3 and Audi R8 V10 in a drag race!

This is the ultimate performance and drag race comparison of some of the best naturally aspirated engines. Also, the C8 Corvette Z06 is 450 lbs. less then the Porsche but the Porsche has tons of drag.

The 2023 Chevrolet C8 Corvette 670hp flat plane crank beats the Porsche 993 GT3 by 5 car lengths in this drag race comparison.

To be fair they admit the Audi R8 they could get was a spyder version that weighs 250lb more than the C8 Corvette Z06

This drag race pits the new 2023 Corvette Z06, and its outrageous, 8600-rpm 5.5-liter flat-plane-crank V-8 against the world’s fastest naturally aspirated, mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive cars — and one motorcycle: Representing the 4-cylinder engine is the 15,500-rpm Ducati Panigale SP2, Ducati’s top-of-the-line track-focused superbike. The 6-cylinder Porsche 911 GT3 is the naturally aspirated benchmark at more than 125 hp/liter and a 9000-rpm redline. And the Audi R8 Performance V10 Spyder RWD has an 8700-rpm screaming V-10 shared with the Lamborghini Huracan. In this episode of Cammisa’s Ultimate Drag Race Replay, Webby Award-winning automotive journalist is joined by SCCA Hall of Fame Race Car Driver Randy Pobst — and MotoAmerica Supersport Champion rider Josh Herrin. And they might have attacked one another with a baseball bat.

C8 Corvette Interior Redesign vs. Corvette C7 (Colors, Trim, Refresh)

Having an interior that is both comfortable and stylish is crucial when you are driving a C8 Corvette. There are a number of interior options that you may want to consider based on the 1LT, 2LT, 3LT or 1LZ 2LZ 3LZ (C8 Z06) trims. These include the instrument cluster, steering wheel, rear view camera, and touch screen infotainment system.

Corvette C8 Steering Wheel

Considering the C8’s futuristic styling, it’s no surprise that the new steering wheel is one of the most visually pleasing features of the C8’s interior. It’s a nice touch, and a very nice piece of engineering. The design is inspired by the Corvette’s classic two-spoke design, but it’s also a bit more compact than its predecessor.

In the C8’s interior, the steering wheel is a focal point for both driver and passengers. The steering wheel is a full leather wrapped affair with a central leather marker. It is also a bit more technologically advanced than its predecessor. It features a central leather centering strip, a flat bottom, and a squared-off shape.

The C8’s instrument cluster screen is also a big deal. It displays a big analog tachometer in the center, along with ancillary readouts like G-force and fuel gauges. The screen also has a nice looking rear-view camera display, which could prove to be a handy feature in the mid-engine Corvette’s cockpit.

The C8’s two-spoke steering wheel is also a bit of a novelty. It’s a touch smaller than its predecessor, but it has the same cool features. It also has limited switches on the spokes. The steering wheel’s big touch is the leather centering strip.

The C8’s two-spoke steering wheel is a bit more technologically advanced than its predecessor. It features a central leather centering strip, a flat bottom, and a squared-off shape.

C8 Corvette Interior Instrument Cluster

Whether you’re new to Corvette or have owned one for decades, you probably know what an instrument cluster is. It’s the collection of gauges and controls that keep track of your car’s important metrics, such as speed, engine RPM and more. Luckily, you can upgrade your Corvette’s interior, enhancing its appeal to passengers and boosting its resale value.

While an instrument cluster may not be the most exciting part of your ride, it’s a critical piece of equipment for keeping you and your passengers safe. And the C8 Corvette has some pretty cool tech.

The C8 instrument cluster features a twelve-inch screen that changes colors depending on which driving mode you’re in. It also features a dimmer switch for restoring its brightness.

While the C8 Corvette has some pretty impressive tech, its interior isn’t quite up to par. The dashboard’s materials aren’t quite as high-quality as you might expect for the price tag. And the dashboard’s layout isn’t a particularly ergonomic one.

The Corvette has a good reputation for performance, but the C8 takes that reputation a step further. It’s also the first Corvette to feature an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. And the C8 has an impressive set of standard features, including Apple CarPlay and a 10-speaker Bose premium audio system. And GM hasn’t yet announced whether or not the C8 will offer a manual gearbox.

If you’re looking to upgrade your Corvette’s instrument cluster, look no further than the all-digital variant.

C8 Touch-screen Infotainment System

Whether you’re a Corvette enthusiast or simply looking to get your hands on a new vehicle, you’ll be excited to know that the eighth-generation Corvette offers a touch-screen infotainment system  that’s not only easy to operate, but also customizable.

The infotainment system has changed a lot since the original model’s debut, and the new model’s interior looks to continue the progress. Chevrolet is making the new C8 interior feel as though it was designed to compete with European rivals, but it’s still a Corvette.

The touch-screen infotainment system has moved to a single-row layout, reducing clutter in the centre console and keeping the climate control buttons near the driver. While this may seem like a positive move, it may also leave passengers feeling left out.

The touchscreen is situated adjacent to the digital gauge cluster. The infotainment system features a split-screen layout, which is well thought out.

The touchscreen features a 12-inch information cluster screen, allowing drivers to monitor their car’s performance and the vehicle’s fuel economy. The touchscreen also comes equipped with a high-definition backup camera and SiriusXM subscription. It also features a standard Chevy 4G LTE WiFi hotspot.

Lastly, the touchscreen offers standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. You’ll also find a 10-speaker Bose audio system, as well as a wireless speaker for two active devices. The Infotainment 3 Plus system also features voice recognition and Bluetooth audio streaming.

C8 Corvette Digital Rearview Camera (2LT, 3LT)

Having a rearview camera in a Chevy Corvette is a great option for increasing rear visibility. The camera is built into the rearview mirror and is activated by flipping it downward. This allows the driver to see what’s behind them without turning back. It also reduces glare.

The rear vision system is one of the best innovations in the automotive industry. It eliminates the need to turn back to avoid hitting objects behind the car. In addition, the rear view camera system is designed to maintain visibility even in low-light conditions.

The interior of the C8 Corvette is one of the most stunning and practical designs in the entire car industry. It’s low and thin, with crisp edges and a unique design. It’s also easy to reach for the driver.

In addition to the rearview camera, the C8 Corvette’s interior offers an onboard Performance Data Recorder that measures your speed, revs, and distance traveled. It’s also equipped with rear cross-traffic assist. The onboard system is wireless and uses Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Chevy Corvette C8 also comes with an impressive five-year/50,000-mile powertrain warranty and roadside assistance for the first five years of ownership. This includes a free first service visit.

The C8 Corvette interior features a vibrant all-digital instrument panel, an infotainment screen, and tight panel gaps. It also features a cascade of buttons that are mounted on a large, prominent partition.

C8 Corvette Interior Colors

A full Adrenaline Red interior is new for the C8 Z06, and it can also be had with black trim. There are five other options including black, gray, two-tone blue, and tan for the C8 Corvette and C8 Z06. Z06 cars also have a carbon-fiber steering wheel and carbon paddle shifters, and the carbon trim can be extended with two available levels, with one that has carbon trim on the door armrests (pictured). A Stealth interior trim package is also available.  Also, there are 21 interior options including seat belts that can come in blue, black, red, orange, or accelerate yellow.

Is the C8 Corvette Z06 Worth the Price?

The C8 Corvette Z06 base model price is $106,000 and many customers have spec’d their C8 Corvette Z06 well above of $150,000 before sales tax with options.

In this video you get to learn from Speed Phenom on what he thinks of the 2023 Corvette Z06 that he paid $189,000 for and drove over 3,000 miles since taking delivery at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky and driving it back to Southern California.

Along the way he dyno tested the Corvette C8 Z06 and it produced 610 Horsepower to the wheel! Which isn’t much loss from the 670HP rated to the crank naturally aspirated engine.

He also achieved over 154 MPH in the half mile speed with the Corvette C8 Z06 even with the Cup 2 tires never officially warming up in the cold Texas 40 degree weather.

He even weighed the C8 Corvette Z06 and found out the C8 Corvette Z06 was about 3,600 pounds with a quarter tank of gas, vs 3680 pounds lbs with a full tank of gas.

Now getting into the video whether Speed Phenom on YouTube thinks the C8 Corvette Z06 is worth the price and some of the pros and cons of the new 2023 C8 Corvette Z06.

Pros of the C8 Z06

  • It’s more than just a track car.
  • It’s a vehicle that can handle anything you throw at it, accept cross country driving unless you change the tires
  • Sound and high revving engine over 8400 RPMs
  • Great performance, 610 Horsepower to the wheel
  • Supercar performance and exotic sound

Cons of the C8 Z06

  • It’s not really a great car for cross country driving with the Michelin Cup 2 Rs
  • Can’t steer with your legs with the carbon fiber steering wheel but you can use it vs wearing out the alcantara or suede
  • You can’t turn the tires all the way if its cold because of the Cup 2 tires again and you might get feedback. But are meant to be in summer conditions
  • Very hard to get good gas mileage but most people don’t care about that buying a car like this
