C8 Z06 Tour Hits Whitmoyer Auto Group

As the C8 Corvette Z06 makes its rounds on the dealer tour it finally hit Whitmoyer Chevy or Whitmoyer Auto Group where at least 4-5 YouTubers are ordering their C8 Z06 from Matt Beaver who’s good friends with StreetSpeed717.

In these videos below from TurboTrouble, Jaret Campisi, My Calculated Randomness and even Mike StreetSpeed717 you can get an up and close look at the new C8 Z06. Also, they get some revs and start ups.

Everyone is blown away about the the new C8 Corvette Z06 and lists our over 6,000+ at one of the top Corvette dealers in the country. Since the C8 Corvette came out it’s taken the Automotive industry hype of a new model car to a new level.

Matt Beaver is putting in orders for Jaret Campisi & Christina Khalil, the Stradman, TJ Hunt, Dragtimes, and of course StreetSpeed717.

StreetSpeed717 just found out how insane the C8 Corvette Z06 mark ups really are when he checked on the 2nd list he was on for another C8 Z06 besides the one he is getting with Matt Beaver and they wanted $100,000 over MSRP.

In this video you can see another set of YouTubers Jaret and Christina Khalil order their C8 Z06 with Matt Beaver.

THE NEW C8 CORVETTE Z06 UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL

StreetSpeed717 Learns About C8 Z06 Mark Ups (VIDEO)

In this video by Mike (StreetSpeed717) on YouTube he reached out to another Chevy Dealership for a second C8 Corvette Z06 since he already was first on his buddy Matt Beaver at Whitmoyer Chevy’s List.

As he went to go check in on his 2nd C8 Corvette Z06 list the Chevy saleswoman called him back and said he is still on the list but the current mark up was $100,000 and if he paid more he can get pushed higher up in the front of the line.

Although this was shocking for StreetSpeed717 since he is use to Matt at Whitmoyer hooking him up with the 1st position on his Corvette lists as they come out he wasn’t aware the other Chevy dealers have gone this insane.

Also, this isn’t anything new since even starting with the C8 Corvette in March of 2020 as they hit lots Chevy dealers from our own personal experience here in Arizona were charging $20k plus mark ups on that car. Van Chevrolet and Gateway Chevrolet being a few examples.

Currently this weekend we checked the local Arizona market and Van Chevrolet is still 100k over MSRP, 10k deposit, Midway Chevrolet wants 50k mark ups and supposedly have 16 people ready to pay that.

Earnhardt Chevrolet was over 75k MSRP, Gateway Chevrolet told us they have someone willing to pay 74.9k over MSRP, 5 other people willing to pay 50K over but we could be 6th on their list at MSRP unless we wanted to beat the $74.9k mark up.

Although GM is sending out letters and trying to stop flippers with the $5000 Chevy Rewards offer and no warranty if you sell the C8 Z06 within the first 12 months the bigger issue is the Chevy Dealers.

If GM and Chevrolet really wanted to stop the over MSRP nonsense they could take the Tesla approach only on the Corvette brand let people buy directly from them and have them delivered to their door or local Chevy Dealer for pick up. The Chevy dealers will still get the service on the Corvettes and then Chevrolet can price the Corvettes higher to keep flippers from making any profit on a flip.

Here are more articles we have written about the insane mark ups on the C8 Corvette and C8 Corvette Z06 over the last two years.

Details of Every 2023 Z06 Corvette Built So Far

In this video with Rick Corvette Conti he shares the stats on all of the 2023 C8 Corvette Z06 Test Vehicle and pre production builds.

Rick is a car salesman at Couglin Chevrolet of Pataskala in Pataskala Ohio and specializes in selling only corvettes for the dealership.

He gets information directly from General Motors and Chevrolet when it comes to ordering, production, allocations and as the Chevy dealers get the information in the US.

He has mentioned his store was going to have a bidding war for the 2023 C8 Corvette Z06 with his allocations going to the top bidders. Not sure if that has changed or not but that is what he has shared on his social media profile and YouTube when the C8 Corvette Z06 was revealed in October 2021.

In the breakdown he shares there are 96 captured test fleet Corvette Z06s with 54% being coupes and 46% being convertibles. In the video you can learn more about the 96 Test and pre production 2023 C8 Corvette Z06 vehicles and learn how Chevrolet built each car.

The one thing we noticed is the break down seems like a real retail production run and what it really would look like with the options being very similar to what we think people would choose or have chosen with the 2023 C8 Corvette base model stingrays as well.

C8 Corvette E Ray & C8 Corvette Z06 Testing at the Nürburgring

In these videos by Ruud Gloudemans and CarSpyMedia on YouTube you can see the new C8 Corvette E Ray and the New C8 Corvette Z06 testing at the Nürburgring again.

This makes a lot of sense since Chevrolet has released C8 Z06 pricing and is opening ordering July 28th with Chevy dealers but hasn’t released the production schedule, allocations, and the Nurburgring time.

Also, Mark Ruess, the President for General Motors has discussed the recent electric all wheel drive C8 Corvette coming next after the C8 Corvette Z06 on CNBC.

With the C8 Corvette Z06 getting closer to start production in September of 2022 that means they are going to have to provide information on the C8 Z06 and possibly the Electric Corvette Hybrid Assist E Ray soon as well.

People will want to know the performance numbers of both C8 Corvette models and variants to know what they are getting performance wise for each of their respective starting pricing as the C8 Z06 starts at $106,000.

You can see the C8 Corvette Z06 and Eray testing at the Nurburgring at about the 4:45 mark of this video.

2023 Corvette Z06 and Z07 Package Exhaust Sound Compilation

In this video by DPC Cars on YouTube they have compiled the exhaust sounds of the new Mid Engine Chevrolet 2023 C8 Corvette Z06 with the flat plane crank ripping around the Nürburgring.

You can also see the different variants from the C8 Z06 with the Z07 Carbon Fiber aero package to the low wing non Z07 aero package. With the recent release of the C8 Z06 pricing starting at $106,000 more and more people are researching videos and content like this to see what the Nürburgring times are and if it’s going to come in under 7 seconds for this starting price.

Also, with having to add another $20,000 in options for the Z07 package, Carbon Fiber Aero, and Carbon Fiber Wheels many are wondering if the extra cost of those options to have the fastest time the new C8 Z06 puts around a track is worth it or save money by going with an aftermarket carbon fiber aero package set up.

Per their video description about the New C8 Corvette Z06

The 2023 Corvette Z06 debuts an all-new 5.5L DOHC V-8 engine that marks a return to natural aspiration for the track-capable performance model.

Engine responsiveness and trackability, two characteristics of naturally aspirated motors, were the top priorities for providing an engaging driving experience for purists.

As a result, it was determined that a clean sheet naturally aspirated powerplant was needed, with the goal of exceeding the power of any naturally aspirated production V-8 engine ever made. A lightweight, flat-plane crank design enables the engine to rev to the high rpms needed to create significant power.

More than horsepower, the new LT6 is designed to complement all aspects of the Z06’s track-focused performance experience. From its 8,600-rpm redline and full racing-style dry-sump oiling system to meticulously tuned induction and exhaust systems, this engine exudes an entirely new and emotional character.

The key to the LT6’s performance capability is a lightweight, low-inertia rotating assembly rooted in an all-new flat-plane crankshaft that, along with a comparatively short stroke (the distance each piston/connecting rod assembly travels with each rotation of the crankshaft), allows the engine to rev to its maximum range.

A version of the LT6 has powered the C8.R race cars since 2019, and the rigors of endurance road racing helped engineers refine the engine’s performance and durability.

Z07 Performance Package additional features include:

Carbon fiber aero package with larger front splitter, front-corner dive planes, a rear wing and underbody strakes that enhance downforce

Unique FE7 suspension with specific Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 calibrations Michelin Sport Cup 2 R ZP tires developed specifically for the Z06 Available carbon fiber wheels that deliver a 41-pound (18.6 kg) reduction in unsprung mass Brembo® carbon ceramic brake system featuring larger, 15.7-inch-diameter (398 mm) front rotors and 15.4-inch-diameter (391 mm) rear rotors

When equipped with the Z07 performance package in the track prepared configuration on a 300-foot diameter circle, the car is capable of 1.22 g of road-hugging grip. The Z06 is based on the same robust architecture as the Stingray — a rigid structure that enabled engineers to fine-tune the car’s chassis and suspension components with exceptional precision.

The C8 Z06 is so stiff that the track-capable Z06 is offered in a hardtop convertible model, and there is no variance in the suspension calibrations between it and the coupe.

Hummer EV vs C8 Corvette: Drag Race, 0-60 and Quarter Mile

✍️ By TJ • C8 ZR1 Owner • Former C8 Z06 (×2) & Stingray Owner • @c8corvetteblog (30K+ on IG) • Last updated: October 10, 2026
⚡ QUICK ANSWER

The Corvette wins. The Hummer EV only makes it close to 60 mph.

A C8 Corvette Stingray Z51 beats the GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 in a drag race. MotorTrend’s Corvette hit 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and ran the quarter mile in 11.1 seconds at 123.2 mph. Car and Driver’s Hummer EV needed 3.3 seconds and 11.9 seconds at 106 mph. The truck weighs 9,063 lbs, about 2.5 times the Corvette.

🏁 BENCHMARK

2022 Hummer EV Edition 1 vs 2020 C8 Stingray Z51, magazine tested

2.8 s
C8 Z51 0-60 mph
3.3 s
Hummer EV 0-60 mph
11.1 s
C8 quarter mile, 123.2 mph
11.9 s
Hummer quarter mile, 106 mph

This post started in May 2022 as a video of a 1,000 hp electric Hummer lining up against a C8. The video is still here, further down. What the page was missing was the numbers, so this version has them: published test results for both vehicles, why the launch is close, and why the rest of the race is not.

The Corvette wins the quarter mile by about 0.8 seconds

On published numbers the Corvette is ahead at every distance a drag strip measures. MotorTrend’s 2020 Stingray Z51 reached 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and covered the quarter mile in 11.1 seconds at 123.2 mph (CorvetteBlogger has the full MotorTrend figures). Car and Driver’s 2022 Hummer EV Edition 1 pickup reached 60 in 3.3 seconds and ran the quarter in 11.9 seconds at 106 mph (Car and Driver’s instrumented test).

The manufacturers’ own figures say the same thing with a smaller gap at the start. GMC estimated 3.0 seconds to 60 for the Edition 1. Chevrolet rated the 2020 Stingray at 2.9 seconds with the Z51 package and 3.0 seconds without it, and at 11.2 seconds in the quarter mile either way (121 mph with Z51, 123 mph without).

So to 60 mph the gap is a tenth of a second on the factory claims and half a second in the magazine tests. By the end of the quarter mile it is 0.8 seconds and 17 mph. At 106 mph, 0.8 seconds is roughly 120 feet. These are two tests run on different days, so read that as the size of the gap, not a timeslip.

Hummer EV vs C8 Corvette: the numbers side by side

The Corvette figures below belong to the 2020 model year Stingray with Z51. The 2021 and 2022 cars used the same 6.2L LT2. The Hummer figures are for the 2022 Edition 1 pickup, the 1,000 hp launch truck.

Spec 2022 Hummer EV Edition 1 2020 C8 Stingray Z51 Source
0-60 mph, tested 3.3 s 2.8 s Car and Driver, MotorTrend
0-60 mph, factory figure 3.0 s 2.9 s GMC, Chevrolet
Quarter mile, tested 11.9 s @ 106 mph 11.1 s @ 123.2 mph Car and Driver, MotorTrend
Power 1,000 hp 495 hp Car and Driver, MotorTrend
Torque 1,200 lb-ft 470 lb-ft Car and Driver, GM Authority
Driven wheels All four, three motors Rear two, 6.2L LT2 V8 Motor1, GM Authority
Weight 9,063 lbs (4,111 kg) 3,647 lbs (1,654 kg) GM filing via The Drive; Car and Driver scales via The Drive
Pounds per horsepower 9.1 7.4 Calculated from the rows above
Price when new $112,595 with destination About $60,000 to start Motor1, MotorTrend

Two notes on the weights. Car and Driver listed its own Hummer test truck at 9,640 lbs (4,373 kg), heavier than GM’s 9,063 lb figure. The Corvette’s 3,647 lbs is what a Z51 test car weighed on Car and Driver’s scales. Car and Driver’s Hummer wore a $118,039 sticker.

Two rows carry the whole argument. The Hummer makes about twice the power, 1,000 hp against 495 hp. It also weighs about 2.5 times as much, 9,063 lbs against 3,647 lbs. Every horsepower in the truck has 9.1 lbs to move. Every horsepower in the Corvette has 7.4 lbs.

Why a 9,063 lb truck stays close to 60 mph

A launch is a traction problem before it is a power problem, and the Hummer is built to win the traction part.

  • All four tires are driven. The Edition 1 has three motors, one on the front axle and two at the rear. The Corvette sends everything through its two rear tires.
  • Electric torque is there from a standstill. The motors are rated at 1,200 lb-ft combined and do not need to build revs first. The Corvette’s 470 lb-ft comes from a V8 that has to be up in its rev range and worked through a clutch.
  • While the tires are the limit, weight cancels out. A heavier vehicle presses its tires into the pavement harder and gets more grip, and it needs exactly that much more force to accelerate. With all four wheels driven, the first part of the Hummer’s run is set by how well its tires hook up, not by what it weighs.
  • Launch mode sets the truck up for it. Watts to Freedom lowers the air suspension and readies the cooling system before the run.
  • The Corvette is good at this too. The engine sits behind the driver and puts its weight on the driven wheels, which is why a 495 hp rear-drive car can reach 60 in 2.8 seconds at all.

That is how a truck this heavy gets within half a second of a C8 to 60. It also matches a real-world result with a Corvette on the other side. Popular Science covered a Speed Phenom test where Austin Everett ran his 2023 Z06 against a 2022 Hummer EV on a cold day. The Hummer led until about 40 mph, and then the Z06 went by. The Z06 reached 60 in 3.4 seconds, the Hummer in 3.8 (Popular Science has the write-up).

🏁 OWNER TAKE

I broke a rear half shaft launching my Stingray, so I do not treat hard launches as free. The Corvette does not need a perfect one to win this race. It can give up a little off the line and still be in front by 60 mph. More on that weak point in my post on C8 Corvettes breaking axles.

Why the Corvette pulls away after 60

Once both vehicles can put all their power down, grip stops mattering and power to weight takes over. That is where 9.1 lbs per horsepower loses to 7.4.

Then the Hummer runs out of speed. In Car and Driver’s test the truck hit its speed limiter 1,008 feet into the run. A quarter mile is 1,320 feet, so it covered the last 312 feet without gaining anything and crossed the line at 106 mph. The Corvette is still accelerating at that point and goes through at 121 to 123 mph.

The shape matters as well. The Hummer is a tall pickup on 35-inch off-road tires, and air resistance climbs with the square of speed, so the truck pays far more for every mph past 60 than a low car does.

A lot of that weight is battery. The Edition 1’s pack alone weighs 2,923 lbs (1,326 kg), according to documents GM filed with the EPA and reported by The Drive. That is about 80 percent of an entire C8 Stingray Z51.

⚠️ HEADS UP

The bigger gap is at the other end of the strip. Car and Driver needed 211 feet to stop the Hummer from 70 mph and noted heavy brake fade. MotorTrend stopped the 2020 Stingray Z51 from 60 mph in 97 feet. Those are different starting speeds, so do not subtract one from the other, but 9,000 lbs takes room to stop.

Hummer EV 0-60: 3.0 claimed, 3.3 tested, 4.9 from a roll

The Hummer’s headline number depends on Watts to Freedom, GMC’s name for launch control. You tap the stability control button twice and confirm with a button on the steering wheel. The truck drops on its air suspension and preps its cooling, and then you launch.

GMC’s estimate for the Edition 1 in that mode was 3.0 seconds. Car and Driver measured 3.3 seconds in that mode. The same test recorded 4.9 seconds from 5 to 60 mph, which the magazine called more representative of real-world power delivery. That rolling-start figure is 1.6 seconds longer than the launch-mode run.

The truck has gotten quicker since. For the 2026 model year GMC added a Carbon Fiber Edition pickup and claims 2.8 seconds to 60 for it. That is a tenth ahead of Chevrolet’s 2.9 second figure for the LT2 Stingray. The claim covers 0 to 60 only.

What the newer Corvettes do against a Hummer EV

The 2022 matchup put the base C8 against the top Hummer EV of the day. Every Corvette added to the lineup since then is further ahead.

Vehicle Power 0-60 mph Quarter mile Whose number
2022 Hummer EV Edition 1 1,000 hp 3.3 s 11.9 s @ 106 mph Car and Driver test
Corvette E-Ray (AWD hybrid) 655 hp 2.5 s 10.5 s @ 130 mph Chevrolet
Corvette ZR1 (rear drive) 1,064 hp 2.3 s 9.6 s @ 150 mph Chevrolet
Corvette ZR1X (AWD hybrid) 1,250 hp 1.8 s 8.9 s @ 155 mph Car and Driver test

E-Ray. This is the one that took away the Hummer’s only advantage. It paired the 495 hp LT2 with a 160 hp front motor for 655 hp and all-wheel drive. Chevrolet’s figures were 2.5 seconds to 60 and 10.5 seconds at 130 mph. The E-Ray is discontinued for 2027, and the 721 hp Grand Sport X takes over as the all-wheel-drive hybrid.

ZR1. Rear-drive only, with 1,064 hp and 828 lb-ft from the twin-turbo LT7. Chevrolet’s testing produced 2.3 seconds to 60 and 9.6 seconds at 150 mph. That is more power than the Hummer makes, without the truck’s weight. More on that car in my C8 ZR1 review.

ZR1X. The ZR1’s engine plus a front motor, 1,250 hp, all-wheel drive. Car and Driver recorded 1.8 seconds to 60 and 8.9 seconds at 155 mph, measured with a one-foot rollout on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires (Carscoops has the test details). That is 3.0 seconds ahead of the Hummer Edition 1 over the quarter mile, with a trap speed 49 mph higher. The full breakdown is in my Corvette ZR1X guide.

The video: Brink of Speed runs a Hummer EV against a C8

The video that started this post comes from the Brink of Speed channel on YouTube. The setup is a set of 0 to 60 runs between the host’s own C8 and a friend’s brand new 2022 Hummer EV pickup, the 1,000 hp truck. When I first posted this in May 2022 I listed the Corvette as a 2020 car. That makes it a Stingray, since the Z06 did not arrive until the 2023 model year.

The title asks whether the C8 gets humiliated. I will leave the result of each run to the video. The published numbers above say what to expect: a launch close enough that the Hummer can lead early, as it did against the Z06 until about 40 mph, and a Corvette that is in front by 60 mph when it launches clean.

Frequently asked questions

How fast is the Hummer EV from 0 to 60?

GMC estimated about 3.0 seconds for the 2022 Hummer EV Edition 1 pickup using Watts to Freedom launch mode. Car and Driver measured 3.3 seconds in that mode and 4.9 seconds from a 5 mph rolling start. GMC claims 2.8 seconds for the 2026 Carbon Fiber Edition pickup.

Is the Hummer EV faster than a C8 Corvette?

Not over a quarter mile. A 2020 Stingray Z51 ran 11.1 seconds at 123.2 mph for MotorTrend, while Car and Driver’s Hummer EV Edition 1 ran 11.9 seconds at 106 mph. To 60 mph it is closer: 2.8 seconds for the Corvette against 3.3 seconds for the truck.

What is the Hummer EV’s quarter mile time?

Car and Driver ran a 2022 Hummer EV Edition 1 pickup through the quarter mile in 11.9 seconds at 106 mph. The truck reached its speed limiter 1,008 feet into the 1,320 foot run, so it covered the last stretch without gaining any more speed.

What is the 2022 C8 Corvette’s 0-60 time?

Chevrolet rated the LT2 Stingray at 2.9 seconds with the Z51 package and 3.0 seconds without it when the C8 launched for 2020, and the 2022 car uses the same 6.2L engine. MotorTrend recorded 2.8 seconds in a 2020 Stingray Z51.

How much does a Hummer EV weigh compared with a C8 Corvette?

GM lists the 2022 Hummer EV Edition 1 at 9,063 lbs (4,111 kg), and its battery pack alone weighs 2,923 lbs (1,326 kg). A 2020 Stingray Z51 weighed 3,647 lbs (1,654 kg) on Car and Driver’s scales. The truck is about 2.5 times as heavy as the car.

Would a C8 Z06 beat a Hummer EV?

Yes, in the matchup Popular Science covered. In a Speed Phenom test on a cold day, a 2023 Z06 reached 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and a 2022 Hummer EV took 3.8 seconds. The Hummer led until about 40 mph, then the Z06 went by.
